Minutes: Meeting Krewe of Mask January 2014.




  1. Introductions: Present were Hilda and John Cashen, Joe and Katie and Nate Harris, Bill Lowe, Rosalind and Dan Gabriel, Donna Taylor, Cheryl Twickler, Cheryl Gordon, Ken Gordon



  2. Old Business: Cheryl Twickler – Beads, three sources – John will send names. John Cashen – 20 foot trailer may cost about $ 2,000. Perhaps an 18 foot trailer for $ 1,000. Mesh floor, needs building – structural PVC might be useful or metal tubing. We might fit nine riders per side. Consider getting a grant from Cultural Education for the community for 1-2 years. Joe Harris – The website is up and running.



  3. Mardi Gras 2014 – in LaGrange – Chapter presidents of Sororities and Fraternities – Educational Systems in LaGrange – Dan will check.



  4. New Business:

    Units might be found via ROTC, Troup and Callaway High Schools – Cole Pugh, superintendent of schools, may be a good contact relative to this.

Ken presented ideas for Doubloon design based on the LaGrange Logo of the statue and fountain. The reverse side could have an image of the Grand Marshall.

Frat Houses and Sororities might be natural for Units in the parade.

Feburary 17, 2015 is Mardi Gras day.

Laura Jennings at Dept of Tourism might be a good contact later.

Representatives should be at the 'Behind the Mask' post party meeting that was upcoming.

A scout report on Bisham Manor was given by Ken.

Parade Underwriters were proposed at different levels of support:

Gold – Advertise entire back of float – $ 2,000

Purple - ½ back of float - $ 1,000

Green - ¼ back of float - $ 500

Proposed underwriters: Car dealerships (need three convertibles)

Patton, King Ford/CHevy, All Pro, Kia/Mitzubishi, Nissan

Also: Hutchinson-Traylor, Home Depot, Med Clinics, Wall Mart, LaGrange Grocery, Diverse Power, Chic-Fil-a, Kroger, Publix, West Ga Health.

Groups that might develop and run floats: Elks, LIM, Planning committee (us).

Other Parade Groups: Auxiliary Police, Sanitation Detail (for pickup after horse units).

Structure of Organization: 501C, vs LLC

Insurance: for 25 units, covered units and uncovered units.

Money Flow: Expenses, Future needs, leftover monies – 20% retained for us, 80% to charities?
