Unit Title

The Parade theme is "The Krewe of Mask's Time Machine" so with few exceptions, each unit should have a year and a place, or a year and an event. These can be past, present or future, historical or fictional. Examples include: "1893: LaGrange Streetcar", "1650 BC: Atlantis", "1969: Apollo 11", 1969: Yellow Submarine", "1974: Little Five Points", "1954: Rock Around the Clock". If your unit cannot fit the theme, traditional Mardi Gras decoration is acceptable.

If further description is needed, to goes here. Please write the size of your vehicle. Eg - Truck pulling 20 foot Trailer, automobile only, Go-Cart, etc.
What do you want announced on TV?
*
There's no guarantees, but we're trying to get the info to the TV people covering the parade. Things you feel might be good for publication like this should be placed here. Eg. - This Float was built by the Friends of Rock and Roll of LaGrange with the cooperation of the Ancient Aliens, whithout whose help civilization itself would not be possible. Johhnie Jump Up is riding in his first Mardi Gras Parade and his parents are proud of him and his sister Claire and their youngest brother Isaac.

MARDI GRAS 2020 INFORMATION AND RULES
We will take reasonable precaution to protect your description; however, we reserve the right to edit as necessary. Please contact a Co-Captain if there is any questions.
Final Agreement: I have read the 2022 Mardi Gras Parade Information and Rules and will adhere to the same. I do not hold the Krewe of Mask liable in case of misadventure.
Line-up Points: Will be assigned PRIOR to Parade date. Marching Groups, Bands, Floats, Vehicles may have different line up points. Be SURE to include contact info for cell phone and email so your line up site can be transmitted to you.
Vehicles (Trucks) — Trucks will only be allowed if they are decorated according to the parade theme and are carrying a group of people representing an organization. Trucks will not be allowed with only a business sign on them — instead, business trucks are encouraged to pull a float. Floats must be able to make all turns in the parade, so presently, there is a 24 foot limit on the length of trailers. Floats must be able to navigate downtown, so a 12 foot height limit is enforced.
When dropping off someone at the parade, do not drive to the parking lot at Sweetland unless handicapped. Anyone driving a float and/or motorized vehicle must have a valid driver’s license. You will be contacted as to your entry number and line-up point. Be sure everyone in your group, on your float, in your vehicle, etc. has a name-tag with the entry number before they arrive at the staging area.
Safety: We require that all children’s groups arrive as a group with an adult leader. Group leaders, please stay with your group after the parade until each child has been picked up by his/her parent/guardian. It is required that all parade participants wear a name-tag, which includes your entry number. During the parade, all entries should keep 30-feet from the entry they are following. Marching groups may not stop to perform along the parade route. Foghorns are prohibited. Unregistered entries will not be permitted. Remember this is a family friendly parade - enjoy yourselves and be excellent to each other.
Awards: Judging will be done BEFORE the parade. The judges stand is situated near City Hall on Ridley St. All bands should plan to play for the judges and in at least one other location. This will be coordinated by the Judges.
Throws: We recommend 500 to 1,000 throws per float rider. Because vehicles usually throw less, we recommend a similar amount of throws for each vehicle. More is certainly acceptable. These may be beads, doubloons or other valuable trinkets. Factory wrapped candies may be thrown. Stuffed animals may be thrown. Throws should be appealing enough so people want them, heavy enough to throw at least six feet, light enough so they won't hurt people and pleasant enough to make everyone happy. Toomy's in Mobile is frequently a good source of beads in bulk. Calculate your cost per throw. Numbers of beads can vary widely per case. Traditionally, beads are purchased by the Gross (144 strands). The Krewe of Mask can provide to Krewe members at about cost and for a slight markup to others as a matter of convenience. We recommend purchasing what you want to throw.
Costs: Registration for privately owned units is 25 dollars for a vehicle or a group. Certain groups are exempted from registration costs at the discretion of the Captains. Checks may be made out to "The Krewe of Mask". Schools, bands and invited guests are exempt from registration costs at the discretion of the Captains.
All floats and units will be judged. Winners will be announced as the unit passes the judges stand. The same float cannot be entered year after year to be judged. A parade representative will pick up the signs at the end of the parade route. Disclaimer: The Krewe of Mask reserves the right to deny participation to any entry that, in our opinion, is noncomplient with rules, causes disruption, misrepresents the traditional Mardi Gras spirit and/or the parade theme. The Krewe of Mask is not liable for any misadventure which may occur to anyone in or at the parade; however, we will do what is reasonable to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
Questions: Any questions may be directed to the Captains of the Krewe of Mask, John Cashen at (706) 333-6501 or Ken Gordon at
